We Are Stewards

1 Corinthians 4:1
The power of God will be released in our life when we realize that we are stewards, not owners.
Stewardship- the mindset of managing a property of another
We are stewards of God.
Matthew 25:14-21 “For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods, and unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every man according to his several ability, and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received the two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and dug in the earth and hid his Lord’s money. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh and reckoned with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou delivered unto me five talents; behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things enter thou into the joy of the Lord.
In this passage talent is talking about money. See, God will try us out in money first. If God can not trust us with money, He will not trust you with anything else.
We must become profitable servants. We will not have to worry about money if we learn how to become stewards.
1. We must understand God owns it all. Psalm-50:10 “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell thee for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof. Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? “ Without God we have nothing, it all belongs to Him. 1 Corinthians 6:19 “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? We are bought by a price, God owns us! We don’t even own our body. Psalms 24:1 “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof the world, and they that dwell therein.” Everything we have God owns; God created all and owns all. So we must seek what God wants us to do with His money and His bodies. 1 Corinthians 10:26 “For the soil is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.” We must advance the kingdom of God. We must learn to live by Gods rules just like a teenager must live by their parent’s rules.
2. We are stewards which mean we are managing the property of God. It all belongs to Him.
Deuteronomy 8:18 “But thou shall remember the Lord thy God, for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth.
3. Ask you,” Am I a good steward or a bad steward?” Banks protect and increase money and we are to protect and increase God’s money, we are God’s bank. Luke 12:16 “And he spoke a parable unto them saying, “The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, “What shall I do because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, “This will I do; I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, thou fool this night thy soul shall be required of thee, then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” God gives plenty and we must not be selfish. It is not our money, clothes, body, car, house, etc… Give glory to God and live for God and the kingdom of God. We are stewards of God. The better we manage God’s property the more He will give us to manage. We must be faithful. The lord keeps records of all, and all money is God’s money.
